# Enable File Services

In `Settings-File Services`, you can enable SMB, FTP/FTPS, WebDAV, NFS, Rsync, DLNA, and Bonjour services, and configure a backup folder for Time Machine. Use the connection addresses shown in the interface; `<NAS IP>` in this article means the current NAS LAN address.

## Enable SMB

SMB is used to access NAS shared folders from computers on the local network.

1. Open `Settings-File Services-SMB`.
2. Enable [SMB Service]:
   ![SMB Service](position://apps/settings/file-service#smb-service)
3. In the `How to connect` area, view the connection methods for Mac and Windows.
4. On Mac, copy `smb://<NAS IP>`, then click [Go] and [Connect to Server] in Finder, paste the address, and connect.
5. On Windows, copy `\\<NAS IP>`, paste it into the File Explorer address bar, and access it.

## Enable FTP / FTPS

FTP / FTPS is used to access NAS data through file transfer protocols. After it is enabled, the connection area shows the FTP and FTPS addresses.

1. Open `Settings-File Services-FTP`.
2. Select [FTP Service] or [FTPS Service]. After the setting takes effect, the interface prompts `Settings saved successfully`.
3. Copy the connection address in the `How to connect ?` area:
   ![FTP and FTPS connection addresses](position://apps/settings/file-service#ftp-ftps-connection)
4. After FTP is enabled, you can copy `ftp://<NAS IP>`; after FTPS is enabled, you can copy `ftps://<NAS IP>`.
5. On Mac, connect through Finder's [Connect to Server] entry; on Windows, paste the address into the File Explorer address bar to access it.
6. To disable a service, clear the corresponding service checkbox. After it is disabled, the interface also prompts `Settings saved successfully`.

## Enable WebDAV

After WebDAV is enabled, you can access NAS data on local and external networks through HTTP or HTTPS addresses.

1. Open `Settings-File Services-WebDAV`.
2. Enable [WebDAV Service]:
   ![WebDAV connection addresses](position://apps/settings/file-service#webdav-connection)
3. Copy the HTTP or HTTPS address in the `How to connect ?` area. Use the address shown in the interface. The format is `http://<NAS IP>:<port>` or `https://<NAS IP>:<port>`.
4. Paste the address into a client that supports WebDAV, and sign in with a local account.

## Configure NFS

NFS is suitable for accessing specified directories on a trusted network. The interface prompts `NFS file access does not require password authentication. Enable this feature only in a trusted network`.

1. Open `Settings-File Services-NFS`.
2. Enable [Enable NFS].
3. In `NFS Accessible Directories`, view the directories that have been opened and their connection addresses:
   ![NFS accessible directories](position://apps/settings/file-service#nfs-directory-list)
4. To open a new directory, click [Add].
5. In the `Add Folder` dialog, select the folder to open, then click [Confirm]:
   ![NFS add folder](position://apps/settings/file-service#nfs-add-folder-dialog)
6. After the directory is added, the interface prompts `Added successfully`, and the directory appears in the `NFS Accessible Directories` list.
7. Expand the directory, then copy the Mac or Windows connection address. The Mac address format is `nfs://<NAS IP>/nfs/<directory name>`; the Windows address format is `\\<NAS IP>\\nfs\\<directory name>`.
8. To remove a directory, select the directory and click [Remove], then click [Confirm] in the `Remove selected path` dialog. After removal, the interface prompts `Removed successfully`.

## Configure Rsync

Rsync is used for file synchronization across devices. The page lets you set the synchronization user, password, and port.

1. Open `Settings-File Services-Rsync`.
2. Enable [Enable Rsync]:
   ![Rsync settings](position://apps/settings/file-service#rsync-settings)
